As the 700,000th pickup rolls off line Great Wall refresh the legend of lead in the field

As the auto market in China grew enormously in 2009, at the beginning of 2010 Great Wall witnessed a new leap in its development history. The 700,000’s pickup rolled off the line, which refresh the legend of lead in the filed, and renewed the “Great Wall miracle” in China auto industry history.

Amid the fierce competition in Auto market Great Wall Motors has created the legend of sales champion for 12 successive years in Pickup segment, in terms of market share, product ranges and market holding volume.

At the end of 1999 Great Wall put out the pickup with 4 kinds of chassis and 5 specifications firstly in Chinese pickup field, which opened the field of pickup development for multilevel and diversification. At the beginning of 2007 Great Wall put out Wing pickup fitted with the INTEC diesel engine jointly developed by Great Wall and BOSCH. This unveiled the curtain of competition between the homegrown auto brands and the joint venture brands in high - end pickup field. In September 2009 Great Wall Wingle passed the EU certification for whole vehicle, making it the first high – end pickup accredited with EU certification.

In regard to export since 1998 when the first batch export was executed Great Wall has been taking the lead in market holding volume of pickup in overseas market, accounting for 80 percent of Chinese pickup export. Despite the sales drop down effected by the global financial crisis Great Wall still take the lead among the homegrown auto brands in terms of export volume and export turnover. Great Wall pickup ranked the 1st among the homegrown brands in terms of export turnover.

Some analysts comment that as Chinese economy keeps growth steadily, auto culture at home integrates with that at abroad, the key words in the auto field such as “Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction”, “Technical Upgrading” and “Industry Adjustment”… etc continue in 2009, development space for pickup market will be further upgraded, and pickup will be the new growth point of China auto industry.
